What’s in November’s Flask?

Jake and Ryan love watching dance. They can’t get enough. Every month they plan their calendar around their favorite upcoming shows. But in order to ease the tension and get into the mood, they also bring a cocktail catered to that specific performance. So what’s in November’s flask?

“Private Life” is a series of intimate vignettes using ‘The Art of War’ by Sun Tzu as a tactical guide for relationships.

Drink Selection: For this piece we created “Myspace“.  Vodka, Malibu, Midori, Pineapple and a splash of Jaeger.  Chill, serve and enjoy.  For those hopeless romantics who love “The Art of War” please make yourself the “Belgium Boot” Take a boot (glass not the shoe), pour yourself a Myspace, and drop in a shot of Jaeger.  CHUG. Amara Tabor-Smith’s Deep Waters Dance Theater
“Our Daily Bread” delves into the folklore and stories surrounding our food traditions to examine how these traditions are impacted by industrialized agriculture, fast food culture and our global food crisis.

Drink Selection: Two drinks for this show – pick your poison.”The Whiter the Bread the Quicker you’re Dead“. Vodka, tomato juice, Worchester, hot sauce, olive juice, olives, onion powder, honey baked ham and bacon. WHOA. (If drinking this in New Jersey – use Taylor Ham). Or make a “GMO“! Monique Jenkinson (AKA Fauxnique)
“Instrument” is a new solo that enacts, exposes and undermines the roles of dancer as workhorse and choreographer as auteur. The artist’s slippery relationship to authority and authorship is a major theme, as is the dancing body as translator, container of knowledge and preserver of culture.

Drink Selection: Jake wants the “Cat O’Nine Tails“.  Fernet and a Smokey Porter beer please. Ryan wants the “Whipped Horse and Wagon“.  Bullet whiskey, Apple Cider and Ginger Beer.  You’ll love it.

“Bitter Queen” examines internalized phobias with deconstructed text, music and physical theatre.
