Jake and Ryan love watching dance. They can’t get enough. Every month they plan their calendar around their favorite upcoming shows. But in order to ease the tension and get into the mood, they also bring a cocktail catered to that specific performance. So what’s in June’s flask?
Liss Fain Dance
“The Water Is Clear and Still” is a world premiere performance installation featuring short stories by Jamaica Kincaid from At the Bottom of the River. The work is about the changeable nature of perception and the ephemeral distinction between fantasy and reality.
Jake thinks 99 Bananas, although Ryan’s inclined to go the sangria route.

Robert Moses’ Kin
“The By Series” new commissioning project features works by guest choreographers Molissa Fenley, Sidra Bell and Ramon Ramos Alayo and the World Premiere of “Scrubbing the Dog” by Robert Moses exploring the renovation over time of historically racist iconography.
First thing that comes to Jake’s mind is 40 Mickeys. On second thought, make that a dirty mother (brandy and kahlua). Ryan knows he’s gonna need a white russian.

Nicole Klaymoon’s Embodiment Project
“House of Matter” features live musical accompaniment by Valerie Troutt’s Moon Candy. Through the use of street and modern dance, poetry and live house music the piece examines walls – both as protective and prohibitive boundaries – in which communities reside.
Nothing hard. Ryan says Pinot Grigio; Jake says Rose. Time to go soft.

“Same Amor” an evening of new works (part of AIM: Artists in Motion residency series), speaks to the theme that love is all the same regardless of gender or ethnicity.
Amaretto, lime, and sour mix. On the rocks. Jake thinks those who need a little more punch can replace amaretto with whiskey. Ryan will be going the whiskey route.
