2018 is finally here! Will it be a year full of exciting new performance opportunities, or will aches and pains bother you incessantly? Will funding flow your way, or will your arch nemesis dance studio get all the attention? What can you do to lean fate your way? We’ve carefully read the planets and deciphered what is written in the stars for dancers everywhere. Find out your dance horoscope for 2018 and ring in the New Year right!
Aries (March 21 to April 19)
This is your year, Aries. Look forward to success, praise and pleasure! In order to get there though, work on self-improvement. Your abs look a little weak these days, but Aries are action-oriented, so get into a couple Pilates classes, and 2018 will deliver! Also, that foot fungus should clear up by April.
Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
Been feeling lovelorn lately, Taurus? 2018 brings good tidings! Venus is one of the best connected and most powerful forces in the sky this year, which means romantic fulfillment is coming your way! Can we offer you advice though? Stop dating other dancers.
Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
You’re in a rut, Gemini, and it’s time to try something new. All three Mercury retrogrades occur in fire signs this year, which means you should reflect during the beginning of the year, and present the new you toward autumn. Hint: A “new you” isn’t just giving up gluten or getting a new tattoo.
Cancer (June 21 to July 22)
You are a true artist, Cancer. Reach inside your soul and express your heart. 2018 is the year the world becomes receptive to your message. A lunar eclipse in January thrusts you into the spotlight. Take charge and act with authority! But before you deliver your message, please work on your tan.
Leo (July 23 to August 22)
You are a mover and a shaker, Leo! You rock the boat and challenge everyone around you. This is the year to put that rebellious spirit into action. Warning though: Your last hard-hitting social-change dance-activism piece was based on numerous factual errors, so please do some research on Wikipedia first.
Virgo (August 23 to September 22)
It’s time for a new direction, Virgo. Saturn is in retrograde until early September, which means you need to move on from your current company or collaboration by then. In the meantime, you might as well indulge in a few tardy mornings and take those sick days while you can. Make parting ways easy!
Libra (September 23rd to October 22nd)
People naturally look to you for advice and leadership, Libra. But it’s not enough to take charge of tricky situations; other dancers are looking to you for fashion trends too! The stars suggest getting creative and more elegant. Try strutting dancewear with bright colors, sheer fabrics and fringe!
Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)
2018 is your year to lay low, Scorpio. You definitely won’t get any grant funding this year. It’s because the sun conjoins Pluto – your ruling planet – scaring away any luck you might have otherwise had. Best to save face and just pick up some extra admin work instead.
Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)
Does it seem like colleagues are passing you by, Sagittarius? 2018 is about to change all that. First though, you need to make careful calculations about how to get ahead. While you’re calculating, consider this: A fake vaguely European accent goes a long way in the arts world.
Capricorn (December 22 to January 19)
Capricorns are known for their longevity, wisdom and practicality… but all that levelheadedness isn’t really getting you anywhere, is it Capricorn? 2018 is time to mix it up! Ditch the sensibility and wear tighter leggings! You’re a dancer, for God’s sake; play up your sex appeal!
Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)
We have to be honest, Aquarius: Your work has been trite for a long time. People are getting bored of seeing the same old depressing stuff. However, Uranus is moving into retrograde in the fall, giving you the perfect opportunity to make an uplifting new work, like dancing with puppies!
Pisces (February 19 to March 20)
You are a dreamer, Pisces, and you like to dream big. But Jupiter’s retrograde will get you down for the summer so, if you need a little pick-me-up, be sure to read Stance on Dance for inspiring perspectives on the dance world. Oh, and don’t forget to take care of that music copyright issue soon.
Happy New Year! No matter what 2018 brings, remember to keep moving and grooving!
